    • Served as the leader of a group working on the morphology and mechanical characterization of carbon nanomaterials such as carbon nanotubes and carbon nanofibers
  • Graduate Research Assistant, Georgia Institute of Technology, July 2009 - January 2013
    • Investigated the effects of morphology on the mechanical response of uncoated and coated carbon nanotube forests
      • Synthesis: CVD, PECVD, E-beam evaporation, ALD, Photolithography
      • Mechanical testing: Nanoindentation, Tension-compression, Die shear
      • Characterization: SEM, EDX, XPS, Raman spectroscopy, Profilometry
    • Evaluated the effects of synthesis methods (drop-casting and spin-casting) and cross-linking on the quasi-static and visco-elastic properties of polymers.
    • Explored the factors affecting real contact area between rough surfaces and foil-supported carbon nanotube forests by developing FE models to capture the mechanical properties of carbon nanotube forests.

    • In situ nanoindentation of carbon nanotube forests and micro-pillars using SEMentor (an indenter inside a SEM).
